Letter from Mollie - April 2008

As the Executive Director of Mid City Concerns, I want to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you how delighted I am to be a part of such a wondrous organization and to also reassure you that the Center is doing well and in good hands.  Having spent 8 years as the Executive Director of  the Spokane Valley Community Center and having obtained a bachelor’s in Gerontology and Sociology, as well as holding a Master’s in Social Work, I am extremely comfortable in my leadership role.

This year will be a great one.  Exciting things are happening all over the Center.  New ideas and strategies are forming that will improve the quality of services provided at Mid City Concerns.  We are offering new programs—exercise your body and mind; writing life histories; current events; art; computers, a senior newsletter--to name just a few.  On any given day you hear and see changes—new interior paint, new classes, and new excitement. Meals On Wheels enrollment for the spring appears to be nearing record-breaking numbers.

But it is not only the big actions that define us. It is also the thousands of daily decisions our staff and volunteers make as they do their jobs: how they involve people in dialogue on issues that may affect them, how they seek out opportunities to share information and expertise where they think they can help. Simply put, it is about how we apply our values to our work. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Mid City Concerns and our pledge to support seniors in our community remains strong.

Obviously, we still have challenges. We intend to meet these challenges with integrity, applying our values and listening closely to our advisory councils and our many stakeholders around the community. In many ways, we’ve only just begun the work of Mid City Concerns.

So, dear friends, I earnestly ask your help again in this season of rebirth.  Your support makes our work possible.  I feel absolutely privileged to be involved in this mission--one that is noble and worthy, one that truly brings the beauty of Christ to untold people in need throughout the community.

Make a gift today at a level that is significant to you. There is no “right” amount. Celebrate in the knowledge that your contribution is helping seniors in meaningful ways. Experience the joy of making an impact.

With Hope,

Mollie Dalpae, MSW
Executive Director
