We need your help!
With the start of the new year (2011) Mid City Concerns/Meals on Wheels Spokane no longer receives any state or federal funding.  This significant cut to our budget makes it imperative that our fundraising efforts and donations from the community remain strong.  We are asking you to be part of our efforts.

With a significant number of our seniors on a fixed income, the increasing cost of living becomes a greater financial burden each year. To aide this growing population and to ensure our independence from federal and state dollars, Mid City Concerns/Meals on Wheels Spokane has launched a ‘Sponsor-A-Senior’ program – providing the opportunity for donors to feed a senior anywhere from one month to one year. For just $4 a day, you can ensure that our Spokane retired teachers, veterans and laborers receives a meal and a much needed contact from our dedicated volunteers.

Not only will seniors be benefiting from your generous contribution, you can also be assured that your donation is tax-deductible – as Meals on Wheels Spokane is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization

Interesting Facts
A survey conducted in November 2009 of our Meals on Wheels Spokane recipients found that:
  • 76% live alone;
  • 44% have incomes less than $1000 per month;
  • 77.7% have 2 or less meals per day;
  • 54% rarely or never eat with someone else
  • 43% are over 80 years of age.
  • In 2010 755 unduplicated volunteers delivered meals, Birthday/Valentine/Easter/Christmas and get well cards, Christmas gifts, pet food, blankets and fans to home bound seniors. Along with these needed items our volunteers provide a moment of grace to and a watchful eye for these isolated seniors.
  • Over 79,450 meals were delivered to fragile, homebound seniors in 2010.
  • A month’s worth of meals delivered by our volunteers is equivalent to the cost of ½ day stay in a care facility.
